Moringa first came to my awareness a couple of years ago when I attended a natural health workshop.  The more I began to research Moringa, the more I liked it!

And while I’ve only just begun adding Moringa to my diet, I am convinced it is a substance we should consider for its incredible nutrients and personal health benefits, as well as a way to help support sustainable development projects in poor countries (more on this below).

Far from just another “hyped” superfood, several studies suggest that Moringa is just really darn good for you, and can reverse many illnesses and symptoms.

In this guide, I will summarize my research, including videos, links, and organic sources of Moringa.

What Is Moringa?

Moringa is a tree that grows in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.  Moringa is entirely edible, and various parts of the plant (roots, seeds, leaves, stems, flowers, pod) can be used for different purposes, from personal health benefits to industrial uses.

Moringa “Miracle”?

Like most leafy green plants, Moringa is loaded with highly valuable nutrients. Although Moringa has been called a “Miracle Plant”, the simple fact is that when people start eating more leafy greens, they will feel better – MUCH better – and many of their illnesses will start to disappear.  The “miracle” takes place when people stop eating fried and/or sugary junk food, and start eating more leafy greens like Moringa.

Moringa is extremely high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Iron, antioxidants, and a variety of other vitamins and minerals.  It is a very cost effective way to get highly valuable nutrients into your body.

Moringa is extremely high in protein, it contains 18 of 20 amino acids, and all 9 essential amino acids. So for people on vegetarian or vegan diets, Moringa would appear to be a serious winner!

Of course, companies are now offering all kinds of “versions” of Moringa, from Moringa “energy drinks” to Moringa capsules, even Moringa peanut butter cookies! You name it, it’s out there!  

But you don’t have to mix Moringa with anything special for it to “work”, you just have to get it from a reliable provider and consume it like any other food.

Let’s take a look at some of the most effective ways to consume Moringa…

Moringa Leaf Powder

One of the most popular ways to consume Moringa is by taking Moringa Leaf Powder, either in capsule form or by adding the powder to drinks or sprinkling it on other foods.  I prefer the raw powder form and just mix it into my drinks and smoothies.  Moringa leaves can also be eaten fresh off the plant, so if you can, grow your own Moringa plant and eat it!

Of course I would always recommend Organic Moringa Leaf Powder which is not overly expensive.  You can get Organic Moringa Leaf Powder on Amazon for about $20 per pound.

Moringa Oil

Moringa oil is much less common and more expensive to produce, however, it may be one of the most powerful ways to consume Moringa.  The oil is made from Moringa seeds, and is widely known for its ability to keep skin looking young.

Be cautious when you buy Moringa oil, as some brands will dilute it to keep the price down, which also lowers the quality.  Make sure your Moringa Oil is cold-pressed and organic if possible.  Good quality Organic Cold-Pressed Moringa Oil is available on Amazon for about $20 per 100 ML (3.4 fl. oz.)

Moringa Tea

Tea is a great way to consume Moringa, because the hot water works to extract many of the nutrients and make it immediately bio-available for your body.  Because Moringa tea often provides an energy boost for many people, it can be used instead of coffee or green tea.  Good quality Moringa Tea can be found for less than $10 per package.

Moringa Social and Environmental Benefits

One of the things I really like about Moringa, is that it is being used to help provide nourishment to highly impoverished communities around the world.  Most of my research about Moringa came from test cases in some of the world’s poorest countries (Haiti, Ghana, and others). Moringa is being used to provide food, employment, and business opportunities where few exist.  Moringa grows in hot and dry climates where cultivating other crops is extremely difficult.
