Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.
Albert Einstein
When you are moving through your life you often need more than one resource to keep you in balance. Actually most of the time you will have to change your resources (or tools) because your life keeps changing all the time.
I want to share with you my favorite websites (mostly blogs) that help me find balance and inspiration in life. I must admit that I came up with the idea of this post while I was cleaning my RSS subscriptions (a task that I try to tackle every month. There are so many interesting blogs to read and so little time to do that!)
If you know any websites that help you find your balance, please mention them in the comments below (don’t be shy, you can mention your own website too
) and give some reasons why those websites are so great.
I hope that you will enjoy my picks and find some new favorites among them:
Note: These websites are not in a particular order. Number 1 is equally important in my opinion as number 14 or 5.
- Simple Marriage. I have just recently discovered this blog and I fell in love with it immediately. I think that it is a must-read resource for anyone who is in a serious relationship or is married. Corey Allan writes in a very down-to-earth manner about all building blocks of a strong marriage (and family). Any couple can benefit from Corey’s tips and I am sure that a lot of people can save their marriage by following his advice or going through the marriage counseling courses that Corey also offers on his website. Corey does not only put his life experience into his work, he is also a Marriage and Family Therapist with a Ph.D. in Family Therapy, so he knows what he is talking about. Don’t forget to subscribe for Corey’s FREE marriage courses. There is something for every couple!
- Dietriffic and Zen to Fitness. I have combined these two websites because both of them give excellent advice about health, fitness, weight loss and nutrition. Dietriffic is written by Melanie Thomassian (a registered dietitian) and it has a lot of soft feminine energy in it. Zentofitness is the home of Chris (a certified Personal Trainer who is currently studying Naturopathic Medicine) and it definitely has a very strong manly emphasis. Of course both of these blogs are wonderful sources of information both for men and women (no place for gender discrimination here). Check both of these websites out to find the right workouts for you and the perfect nutrition plan (I am not a big fan of the word “diet”) that will give you the body and health you have always dreamed about.
- Productive Flourishing. Productivity can seem a little boring and dull but not when you combine it with Charlie’s creative approach. I can really feel my creative ideas flourishing after I read Charlie’s posts. Charlie also publishes a lot of amazing guest posts on his blog that deliver interesting and useful tips about productivity, creativity and work flow. ProductiveFlourishing is a great place to learn how to turn your big ideas into reality taking just one step at a time.
- Becoming Minimalist I am not a minimalist but I enjoy simplicity in life. I would never live owning only a hundred things but at the same time I enjoy having only what I need in life. Joshua Becker from Becoming Minimalist shares great advice on how to live a minimalist life. Whether you want to go all the way to minimalistic living or you just want to simplify your life, you can find great tips and advice on this blog. This blog is not only about decluttering your home and learning to live with less in life, it is about seeing beyond “stuff” and finding happiness with little but absolutely amazing things in life.
- Tiny Buddha This website is just a well of inspiration. If I am looking for a nice quote to inspire me or for a blog post that will bring my thoughts and spirit in balance, this is the blog I am heading straight to. Lori Deschene (the founder of Tiny Buddha) writes amazing articles and creates a warm community for writers and readers. This blog is full of personal stories, inspiring ideas, and simple wisdom that can be applied to our daily life.
- Simple Mom This is a productivity, creativity, sanity, simplicity and happiness resource for moms (and dads who probably won’t admit that they read a simplemom blog). I love reading this blog especially when I have tough days with my twins because I can always find some advice there. If you a parent then I am sure that you will enjoy this balanced parenting blog.
- A Beautiful Ripple Effect This blog is beautiful inside and out. Carolyn Rubenstein is the author of Perseverance: True Voices of Cancer Survivors as well as the founder of a non-profit organization for young cancer survivors. Her blog is a collection of personal development articles written with a twist of beauty and sophistication, wonderful images, absolutely awesome e-books and worksheets and flourishing positive energy. The website is so cozy and beautiful that I simply do not want to leave its pages. There is a lot to learn on the pages of A Beautiful Ripple Effect because this blog is written with soul, heart and inspiration.
- The Daily Brainstorm is a new kid on the block. Actually it is not a single blog, it is a collection of the best posts from the best blogs updated daily (you can find my articles on its pages too). If you want to keep your hand on the pulse of the best articles about health, lifestyle, personal development, spirituality and blogging then you can subscribe to this blog and enjoy a heap of tips and ideas for balanced living.
- Urban Monk is my new favorite. This blog is a fountain of spiritual inspirations and every-day life lessons. Whether you are having trouble dealing with rude people or you are looking for forgiveness and meaning in life, Urban Monk will give you a great story and a lesson that will motivate and inspire you. I find a lot of balance on the pages of this blog because they breathe with calmness, peace and serenity – qualities that are essential for life balance.
Here are 5 more websites that do not need explanation in my opinion. I have mentioned them quite a few times already and you have probably noticed that they live happily in the footer of my blog.
What are your favorite websites that help you find balance and inspiration in life? I think it would be fun for all of us to discover new blogs and ideas. Remember,
Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving (and learning!)

Hello,
Well, since you said it’s ok, I’ll mention my own site Eden Journal. www.edenjournal.com
I also have a new favorite that I started following a couple months ago, Soulful Body and Mind. www.soulfulbodymind.com
And, don’t tell anyone, but I’m a dad that visits Simple Mom from time to time.
Thanks for adding your favorite websites Eric! Your blog is absolutely wonderful and I enjoy reading your articles all the time. Soulful Body and Mind is a new blog for me and I’ll be glad to check it out.
Anastasiya, thank you so much! I am so grateful to be included on this list
. Your words put the biggest smile on my face! Your site is breathtaking and exudes such positive inspiration.
Can’t wait to check out the links!!!
Thank you so much for including Dietriffic, Anastasiya
I know about some of the other blogs you’ve mentioned, and I really enjoy them too. So, I’m very happy to see my name up there also.
One blog which I really enjoy is Serene Journeyby Sherri, who you’ll know from Zen Family Habits.
Sherri writes a wonderful blog, I agree. Serene Journey is definitely a balanced living blog.
Some of my faves are on this list already, plus I’ve just opened a number of tabs in hopes of finding new ones…
Two things I love for inspiration :
TED : http://www.ted.com/ (but I actually subscribe via iTunes & watch on my phone, not on the website)
Coolhunting : http://www.coolhunting.com/
I also love the New Yorker but that one I read old-school paper… (and the fiction podcast)
Anastasiya – thank you for this link and your kind words.
Hi Anastasiya,
I love the collection of links. I’m already familiar with some of them, and the rest look like great reads (esp. The Daily Brainstorm, since he seems to pick out some great blogs, and is fairly comprehensive in scope).
I address the issue of life balance on my blog: Personal Growth Map, and believe that a holistic approach to personal growth is essential, since life and balance are compromised when we ignore any one area of our lives.
I look forward to reading more from you and those listed above.
I would recommend http://www.nianow.com!!!
I’m currently a Black Belt Nia Practitioner — Nia is a fitness fusion cardio dance exercise — but oh so much more. The movements used in Nia are a combination of Martial Arts, Dance Arts and Healing Arts and blend (balance) Yin/Yang energies. Students are invited to embrace their own creative expression through moving the way their own body is designed. All of the movements can be modified for less flexible/mobile individuals. It is a beautiful blend of music and dance that affects the physical, mental, emotional and spirit realms.
Jill, I’ve heard about Nia but I’ve never tried it myself. I don’t think that they offer classes in my area but I’ll be sure to check out the website you have mentioned. Maybe I’ll find some demo workouts and I’ll try it at home. Thanks!
Thank you, Anastasia, it is very useful information for me!
Hi Anastasiya,
What a wonderful site you have here! I’m honored to see Tiny Buddha included in this list, and excited learn about some of the other sites you profiled. Thank you for all the inspiring work you’re doing.

You made my day!
Anastasiya, thank you for a brilliant list of places where I find balanced living on the web – and more so, where I can direct my family and friends in times of need!
Farnoosh,
So sweet of you. Thank you, although you did not had to do anything. I simply love all these blogs.
I feel really bad doing this, but only since you said it was ok. My site Personal Development, One Mind At A Time can be found at www.joshuanoerr.com
I am also a huge fan of www.janebenimble.com
Also, my new friend Gip Plaster at www.gipplaster.com
Your site is a new find from me. I read your guest post at virginbloggernotes and had to come check it out. Cheers!
The quote that opened this post is so very true. Life is a journey of staying in balance, it is something we have to consciously try to do every day and it takes work, but it is possible. Thank you for a lovely list of blogs. Some I have read and thoroughly enjoyed and others that I am just now hearing about. I will most certainly check them out.
Also, I enjoyed your post on yoga. I am just now beginning to add this to my fitness regime and I am loving the opportunity it gives me to slow down, let go, and focus on the moment at hand. I don’t know why I haven’t done this religiously before.
Thanks again for the inspiration. I do love your blog! =)
Your website is also absolutely amazing. It is like a visual delicacy for me
This is a wonderful, terrific & stupendous idea!
Thank you to Eric for including my site, Soulful Body & Mind http://soulfulbodymind.com . And thank you, for providing such a lovely outlet!
Oh yeah, SB&M is beneficial because it’s imperative to empower yourself. Empowerment begins with your health & well-being. You can not develop and grow as a being, without good health. Furthermore, when you recognize yourself as an energy being that is connected with all things (holistically) then you can manifest anything you want!
So much wonderful info to read!
Another one that I enjoy on a regular basis is:
http://www.stevenaitchison.co.uk/blog/
My own is based on the concept that our own development helps to develop the world.. it’s a combo of inspirational quotes, articles on self growth, book reviews, inspiring stories…
