Meditation on the Move: A Beginner’s Guide to Walking Meditation
Meditation is one of the most effective ways to relieve stress, relax our bodies and quiet our busy minds. But with busy work schedules, family responsibilities and other demands in our day-to-day lives, it can be challenging to find time for a regular practice. Walking meditation is an excellent alternative for incorporating a practice into the gaps in our busy lives. It can be performed anytime you’re walking, whether that is from your car to your home, while in nature or during a leisurely evening stroll through your neighborhood.
7 Ways to Escape the Tyranny of the Mind
Are you living in a world dominated by the mind? As I see it, most of us are, to a greater or lesser extent.
For the sake of ease, I’m going to call this place Mind World. Mind World rejects the notion that mind, body and soul should be given equal focus and attention. Instead, mind is dominant and reigns supreme. Body is along for the ride, as a transportation device and subject for the mind, whilst spirit is either completely misunderstood or viewed with extreme cynicism.
How to Balance the Entwinement of Your Life Aspects
The aspects of our life are all entwined. Together they can enable balance, but if one strand fails, and then another, then soon it all begins to unravel.
An unhappy life is the bi-product of our ineffectiveness at finding and achieving balance in our lives.
Don’t believe me? Think about how many unhappy people we see every day.
How many people are abusing others on the road from behind the wheel of their car?
Take care of your heart…
How do you take care of your heart? What did you do today to keep your heart healthy both emotionally and physically?
I don’t mean to sound too serious (though I really should) but heart disease is the leading cause of death in both men and women. The most common type of heart disease is coronary artery disease. Arteries get blocked by “plaque” and your coronary arteries become narrowed or blocked. Then your heart cannot get enough oxygen rich blood. This blockage can result in chest pain, called angina. You can also have pain occuring in your shoulders, arms, neck, jaw, or back.
How to Simplify and Declutter Your Life in 30 Days
Today the world is moving fast and it requires the same pace on our part. Unfortunately while we try to catch up with the rest of the world we tend to lose ourselves in this crazy rat race. Things like happiness, pleasure, joy, rest become less and less realistic over time.
This is the moment when we can stop and simplify our lives. We do not have to follow the rules that weren’t created by us. We do not have to live the lives that we do not like. We do not have to spend our lives chasing stuff that is meaningless and worthless.
